LazerProof

La Roux reminds me of my BFFN (best-friend-for-never) Sarah, who is in rocking down in New Zealand right now. The video for Major Lazer’s “Pon de floor” gloriously freaked her out, so this combination of the two polarizing artists is blowing my mind! It makes almost too much sense.

But it took me awhile to actually listen to it. I finally popped it into my ipod and now it’s my driving soundtrack!! La Roux’s music is really malleable, and her voice is really versatile, so it sounds really good over any kind of bass-y beat. Vice-versa with the music, case-in-point, Independent Kill. It’s my hilarious jam with this awesome rap-bitch (Candi Redd) singing over the funky-cool In For The Kill beat. But yeah, I think what I like most about Major Lazer, and La Roux’s style, is that it’s very old school and like, disturbingly fun. Especially the “In 4 the Kill Pon the Skream” remix. It’s fuckin’ old school house party circa 1992. What else is good… the re-work of Gucci Mane’s “I’m Not Your Lemonade”! It unexpectedly works. Coool!

go here to download the entire mix, but here’s a taste of the best
