Fixed: Sex Bob-Omb!!!

So one of the first things I did when I moved up to Berkeley was I watched “Scott Pilgrim vs the World” by myself in a little old theater. From the opening credits where Alison Pill busts out with the “We are Sex Bob-Omb, 1 2 3 4!” and the buzzing, crunching, bass-bouncing, lo-fi fun rocks your world in the movie theater, I forgot my troubles and rocked out. It’s awesome!!

I wish they were real, so I could see them play live! I even love the small bits of Michael Cera’s soft voice harmonizing with the lead singer’s voice. It’s so sexy. And the line in “Summertime” when he goes, “drinking shampoo” and he playfully let’s the word escape from his throat.

It’s playful, it’s fun, it’s bad-ass, it’s cool.

“I’ve liked you for a thousand years, a thousand years”

I love how the girls of Plumtree all resemble Michael Cera. Apparently, Scott Pilgrim the character was inspired by Scott Pilgrim the song. So addictive, so repetitive, so sweet, and so much longing. It clearly fits in with my love for the early ’90s girl-rock-groups, and yet it leans more towards the pop end, which I always love. It has a lazy excitement, with disconnected melodies, but it can’t help but be sweet. It’s really cute. It ties in with my previous post, it should be like… a Crushin’ Mix.
