“I’ve liked you for a thousand years, a thousand years”

I love how the girls of Plumtree all resemble Michael Cera. Apparently, Scott Pilgrim the character was inspired by Scott Pilgrim the song. So addictive, so repetitive, so sweet, and so much longing. It clearly fits in with my love for the early ’90s girl-rock-groups, and yet it leans more towards the pop end, which I always love. It has a lazy excitement, with disconnected melodies, but it can’t help but be sweet. It’s really cute. It ties in with my previous post, it should be like… a Crushin’ Mix.

I Wish He Was My Boyfrieeendd

So I have recently taken to wearing my earphones and listening to music ALL the time while walking around the campus. It scares me a little because it’s actually really common, a LOT of people are wearing their headphones and stuff. It’s like, not natural or something. I wonder if people do what I do: imagine that I’m in a movie and I’m listening to my own soundtrack, creating a narrative to my life.

Case in point: I have a crush on every boy. So when I play this song, and walk around the school, I’m all “I wish he was my boooyfrieeeennd!” to every boy I see. There’s a lot of unrequited love, I can sense, here at Berkeley. Ugh. I especially love the lines: “The other girl is nooot me, she’s prettier and skinnier, she has a coooollege degree, I dropped out when I was seventeeeeen”. It’s a mix of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” and Camera Obscura’s “Hey Lloyd”. I also love the way she emphasizes and drags the most unusual words. It’s so very.

Do I want to be Crunched? by Corey Jay? Oh yeah

My New Love, but I’m afraid to watch his movies.

Do I want to be Crunched? by Ellie Kemper? Oh yeah

I first saw her on The Office. She is sooo adorable. I want to eat her. Love her. Forever. Disgusting. Tiffany’s. Love it.

Do you want to touch? Yeah!!!

Sex sex sex. I’m afraid to admit it, but I am oddly and sexually attracted to Gary Glitter. Maybe not the real-world-child-molesting-Paul Francis Gadd, but the 1970s stage persona of Gary Glitter. He was so hot and scary, a sublime combination. He might as well be Lady Gaga’s dead-beat dad.

This song recently came to my attention when I re-watched The Runaways. It comes on when you first meet Dakota Fanning’s stage presence at an LA club, ”Pretending that you’re oh so shy”. The whole soundtrack was actually pretty fitting. I especially loved the use of the Stooges’ “I wanna be your dog” during the Cherie Currie and Joan Jett kissing scene. It was so stylized. loved it! I was actually really impressed with Kristen Stewart’s performance, while I was not-so-impressed by Dakota Fanning playing a really cracked-out-whore???

Anyway, this song is sex! And it’s when he asks the obvious, ‘do you want to touch’ that I’m with the whole crowd, and I’m like, oh well I’m going to hell, so “yeah!”
